Private memorial services for Jimmy O. Wilson, 73, of Greenville, Oklahoma, will be held by his family at a later date. Inurnment will be held at the McAlister Cemetery south of Ardmore.
Jimmy was born to Hobart Samuel “Blackie” and Grace Lillian (Goode) Wilson on May 5, 1939, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on February 1, 2013, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
Jimmy married the former Helen L. Wright on May 28, 1960, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2008.
Jimmy had attended school at Meadowbrook and drove semi-trucks for a living. In previous years, he had driven for Trumbull Asphalt and Joe Brown Company, where he was referred to as “Big Jim.” For the last 20 years of his career, he was the owner/operator of Wilson Trucking. During his travels, he was able to see every state in the continental United States. He loved to watch PBR on TV and drive the back roads during his spare time. His true passion was watching his sons and grandsons race stock cars. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
His parents; wife; three brothers, Travis, Glen and Son Wilson; and a sister, Barbra Barbie, preceded Jimmy in death.
He is survived by two sons, Roy Don Wilson and wife, Judy of Greenville, Oklahoma, and Troy Wilson and wife, Cherri of Marietta, Oklahoma; a daughter, Patricia Wilson of Ardmore, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Bryan Wilson and wife, Meagan, Vance Wilson and wife, Maggie, Chris Wilson and wife, Amy, Cody Wilson and Nicole Wilson; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Johnny Wilson and wife, Mary of Sulphur, Oklahoma.
