Supply failed to meet demand during the opening day of the filing period for municipal government positions in Carter County.
Helen McReynolds, Carter County Election Board Secretary, reported two filings for upcoming elections in April.
Danny Veal filed for Ward 4 in Healdton and is an incumbent. Glenn Bond filed for a 2-year trustee position in Springer to round out the number of Carter County filings. The filing period will run through Wednesday.
In Love County, Charles Treadwell filed for the Ward 3 seat on the city council in Marietta.
Johnston County reported the most activity on the opening filing day with a number of positions drawing interest.
In Tishomingo, Brian Hurst and Sue Robins filed for the Ward 1 seat, which is a three-year term. Patty Braley was the lone filer for city clerk/treasurer.
Dean Copeland and Don Harris filed for Mannsville Board of Trustees, Ward 2, a four-year term. Shonda Barnes, Becky Harris and Shelia Hannan all filed for treasurer. In Wapanucka, Carlene Jemison, Cathy Terry and Tommy Reeder filed for Board of Trustees, a four-year term and Tonya R. Moralez filed for town clerk/treasurer, a four-year term.
Clarence Victor Love filed for Ravia Board of Trustees, a four-year term.
The Murray County Election Board reported two filings for office in Sulphur. Ronald Fondren, an incumbent, filed for Ward 4 and Chad A. Hill filed for Ward 2.
In Marshall County, Tom Austin, an incumbent, filed for Seat 1 on the Madill City Council. Samuel Q. Dishmon filed for the Oakland Board of Trustees, a four-year term. Leonard R. Nail and Kenneth Howard filed for the Kingston Board of Trustees, which is a four-year term.
