  • ELMORE CITY — Lorene Margie Hammer of Elmore City, Oklahoma, was born to E.B. and Sadie (Bynum) Pruett on November 11, 1924, in Mannsville, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on February 4, 2013, at her home near Elmore City, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years.
    Lorene grew up and attended school in Dickson, Oklahoma. She met and married Jack Hammer on July 29, 1943. Lorene and Jack lived most of their married life in southern Oklahoma including Ardmore, Pauls Valley and the last 45 years in Elmore City. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, mowing her yard and crocheting. Mrs. Hammer, also known as momma and granny, enjoyed life and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
    Mrs. Hammer is survived by her son, Bobby Hammer and wife, Vickie of Elmore City, Oklahoma; daughter, Shirley Hammer of Norman, Oklahoma; two brothers, Kenneth Pruitt of Dickson, Oklahoma, and Charles Ray Pruett of Springer, Oklahoma; one sister, Doris Jean Bailey of Dickson, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
    Mrs. Hammer was preceded in death by her husband, Lawton Daniel "Jack" Hammer (April 2003); sons, Robert Wayne Hammer, Ricky Joe Hammer and Bobby Gene Hammer; grandson, Bobby Jack "B.J." Hammer; parents, E.B. and Sadie Pruett; and sister, Judith Pruett.
    Funeral services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2013, in the Elmore City First Baptist Church with the Rev. Smokey Hurst officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma, under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. You may send a condolence to the family at www.woosterfuneralhomes.com.
