  • DAVIS — The Davis Oklahoma Animal Volunteers treated 34 dogs and cats during its clinic for low-income families this month. Animals at the clinic were mainly from Murray and Garvin County. Veterinarian Kay Helms from Coalgate performed surgery and was assisted by Lilly Everett from Milburn. Since January 2005, 2,359 animals from south central Oklahoma have been treated at the clinics.
Volunteering this month for the clinic were Charlene Cable, G. Bryant, Aimee Hughes, Alex Brown, Gary Fitch, Debbie Hardy, Pasley Underwood, Ben and Audrey Ridlehoover. The next DOAV clinic is scheduled to take place March 2 and is nearly booked. Pet owners earning less than $35,000 are eligible to take part in the clinic. From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., March 16, DOAV will sponsor a silent auction; bake sale, garage sale and BBQ sandwich lunch at the Murray Expo Center. Donations and volunteers are welcome. Proceeds raised will benefit the DOAV shelter fund.
