Funeral services for Irmadene Mapp Blankenship will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Craddock Memorial Chapel. Dr. Alton Fannin will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Irmadene was born July 4, 1931, in Legate, Okla., to Sammie H. Mapp and Mary Exa Collier Mapp. She passed from this life on Feb. 6, 2013, in Mercy Hospital, Ardmore. She was married to James Freeman Blankenship in Marietta on Oct. 23, 1954. She was a longtime Ardmore resident.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in her Sunday school class and Keenager choir until her health began to fail. She was a faithful Christian witness. Irmadene loved to write poetry and she left behind a legacy of beautiful poems.
She was a founding member of the Hallmark Extension Group where she served in many capacities. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Freeman, of the home; and two sons, David Blankenship and Lynn Blankenship, both of Ardmore.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Chaney, Ricky Bean, Wayne Merritt, John DeHart, Robert McClanahan and Emmitt Hudgins.
