In last year's run to the state tournament in Class A, Turner's girls basketball team did its damage on the West side of the bracket.

Now the Falcons get a change of scenery, switching to the East path to the state tournament that won't be any easier, according to coach Shane Hill.

Entering Turner (22-3) is ranked 10th in Class A. With a win in Saturday's district championship game, the Falcons will advance to a regional that could have them potentially facing top 4 teams in Kiowa or Dewar.

"It's gonna be a little different, going toward the other side of the state this year," Hill said. "We're gonna see some difference faces, differnt people.

"It's probably one of the toughest ones (draws) among who's in the top eight, but I think we're playing really good at a high level right now."

Turner will play at home against the winner of Friday's Achille-Rock Creek contest for the district crown. The win would be the third consecutive district title for Hill, who said his team has progressed throughout the season after graduating All-State center Hannah Stevens.

"It's hard to fill (for) an All-Stater," Hill said. "I think that I've had some young girls come around in the last four or five games. I've had some young ones step up and get a lot better since Day 1.

"We've got a lot more experience than what we've had. They're anxious and ready to go."
