Creede Crews Speake passed from this life on February 8, 2013, in Chehalis, Washington. Creede was born on December 8, 1945, to Creede Speake Jr. and Betty Jo Crews Speake in Duncan.
Creede grew up in the Milo-Woodford Community. He attended Woodford Elementary School, Fox High School and graduated from the Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1968. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance in 1967 from Texas Tech University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Arizona in 1969. He served in the United States Army Reserve. He was employed by the Chamber of Commerce in Tucson, Ariz., and the United States Forestry Department in Arizona and the State of Washington. Creede was a Bible scholar, spiritual leader and humble servant of God.
Creede was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Creede and Jesse Speake; maternal grandparents, Bailey and Mary Crews; his mother, Betty Speake; infant sister, Nancy Speake; and his adopted son, Douglas Henderson.
Creede is survived by his father, Creede Speake Jr. of Milo; sisters, Debby Ritter Stone of Ardmore and Cindy Williams of Ardmore; two nieces, Sarah Ritter of Brooklyn, N.Y., and BJ Marsh, Edmond; and nephews, Creede Williams of Dallas and Travis Ritter of Ardmore.
Creede especially treasured the love and support of his extended family and dear friends in Washington: Suvi Lewis, Laura, Eric and Levi Myhre, Elizabeth Yoder, Audra Hilger, Scott Ohern, Glen Pinard and Margaret Taves of New York.
Creede’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at Providence Hospital in Centralia, Wash., Ellen’s Place and Assured Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
A family memorial service will be scheduled at a later date with burial at the Milo Cemetery.
