Unattended toddlers roaming an Ardmore street Tuesday afternoon led to the arrest of their parents on drug charges.
According to Ardmore Police Department reports, Officer Juan Galicia responded to the 1200 block of Cruce Street after receiving a report of two small children walking in the street.
Galicia, assigned to the special APD Ardmore Safe Streets Enforcement Team unit, found the children, ages 1 and 2, and subsequently located their parents, identified as 35-year-old Matthew Lytle and 30-year-old Chrissy Walker inside their residence. Mom and dad were both found in possession of drugs.
Sgt. Ryan Hunnicutt, APD Public Information Officer, said the couple was arrested for possession of marijuana and illegal prescription drugs. Both were booked into the Carter County Detention Center. Formal felony possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of minors and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia charges were filed against Lytle and Walker by the district attorney's office Wednesday. The couple made initial court appearances. Bonds were set at $25,000. Preliminary hearing for the pair is set at 9 a.m. April 2.
Thursday afternoon Carter County Detention Center records indicated Walker had posted bond and was released. Lytle remained jailed pending the posting of bond and/or the outcome of the case.
