Services for Gloria Dean Pickelsimer, 85 of Healdton are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday Feb. 26, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Healdton, with Bro. Jeff Flowers officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Gloria was born in Fox on Nov. 6, 1927 to William B and Eva (Williams) Kirkpatrick She departed this life on Feb. 23, 2013 at the Healdton Hospital.
She graduated Fox High School in 1945 as the class valedictorian.
Gloria was working at the Ardmore Air Force Base when she was introduced to a soldier who had just returned home from the war in Europe and after a courtship, she and Beecher M. Pickelsimer were married on April 4, 1946.
Gloria was a prominent businesswoman in Healdton. She owned and operated Pickelsimers Tag and Tax while also being employed by Total Oil Co. She retired from Total in 1984 and from Pickelsimer Tag and Tax in 2006, having prepared income taxes for residents of Southern Oklahoma for almost 60 Years. She also served on the city council of Healdton.
Gloria and Beecher were involved in all aspects of their children and grandchildren's lives. They spent many days camping and water skiing at Lake Murray and Lake Texoma and could be found in the crowd at most football and basketball games and rodeos where their children and grandchildren were competing. Gloria was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Healdton.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Beecher on May 31, 1997, a sister Eula Mae West, brothers Russell and Raymond Kirkpatrick.
She is survived by three sons Bill and Jane Pickelsimer, Oklahoma City; Larry and Pam Pickelsimer, Healdton and Kenny Pickelsimer, Healdton; eight grandchildren Nichole Hill, Healdton; Allen and Melissa Crick, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Deron and Amber Pickelsimer, Healdton; Brad and Crista Pickelsimer, Wilmington, N.C.; Art and Lisa Timmons, Healdton; Dan and Holly Pickelsimer, Mustang, Okla.; Amy Pickelsimer, Ada; Dustin Bailey, Ardmore, 20 great grandchildren; extended family and special friends Don and Debbie Moyers, Lois Daniels, Mary Wilson and Larry, Kristi and Hunter Roberts.,
Pallbearers are Wes Hacker, Jerry Gordon, Mike, Joe and Albert Kirkpatrick, Mitchell and Bruce Pickelsimer and Tom Worsham.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
