Lyndal Dale Brown, 76, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at his home in Okla­homa City, Okla.

Dale was part Cherokee Indian, born on January 16, 1937, the 11th of 13 children born to the late Joe Brown and the late Vera Cowden Brown. He was born into a truck­ing company family (Joe Brown Company), where he began working at a young age. He started working for Joe Brown Co., in 1948, where he first learned to drive a truck at age 11.

Dale graduated from Woodland High School in 1955. While attending Woodland High, Dale found his love for bas­ketball. He started for a state championship team during his time there. His passion for basketball re­mained strong, he regular­ly attended the Oklahoma High School Champion­ships and local university basketball games.

After attending Wood­land High, Dale spent two years in college, at Okla­homa State University and the University of Okla­homa. Dale then returned home to help in the family business, Joe Brown Co., where he served in various management roles until 1992.

While at Joe Brown Co., Dale was involved with many associations related to the Construction in­dustry. He was appointed President of the Oklaho­ma Motor Carriers Asso­ciation in 1973. He also had positions within the Oklahoma Trucking Asso­ciation and the Oklahoma Chapter of the Associa­tion of General Contrac­tors. He remained active in these associations until his passing.

In 1996, he started Dale Brown Inc., a freight and materials hauling com­pany. He began as a small three man operation. DBI grew every year until his leaving the company in 2009. While owner/presi­dent, DBI is one of two companies to win the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce’s Metro 50 Award in seven consecu­tive years.

Upon “retirement,” Dale followed some of his other passions, including volunteering at the Lake Hefner Golf Course. Dale loved to spend time with his family, where he was always in attendance of his children and grand­children’s events. He was an active member of the Crossings Community Church, where he enjoyed participating for various events. He also was a lifelong member of the Freemason Society. Dale also volunteered with the Red Andrews Christmas Dinner for the past 17 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, walking, reading and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his children, Misty Brown Cottrell and loved one, Kent Dakour, Marty Brown, Matt Brown and spouse, Sarah Brown, Meagan Brown, Mandy Hornung and spouse, Brad and Mitchell Brown and loved one, Brittany Compton. His grandchil­dren are Chace Cottrell and spouse, Ann, Chance Cottrell, Tyler Brown, Nicholas Brown and Em­ily Brown. His surviv­ing siblings are Maxine Bumgarner, Dott Wells, Fern Primrose and Ber­nice “Bill” King and her husband, Jimmy.

In addition to his par­ents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Joe Dew­ey Brown, James Warrior Brown, Gene Brown, Clif­ford Brown, Ted Brown, Rachel Brown Reese and spouse, Jack Reese, Bert Brown, and Robert “Son­ny” Wells spouse of Dott Wells, Jimmy Primrose spouse of Fern Primrose; and grandchild, Bridgette Nicole Brown.

Funeral services were Feb. 22 at Northwest Christian Center, in Okla­homa City. Burial was at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, Okla.
