Jerry Alan Pumphrey Jr., 36, of Ardmore passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2013, in The Chapel of Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
Jerry was born on May 22, 1976, in Peoria, Illinois, to Jerry Alan Pumphrey, Sr. and Teri Murphy. He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Brad M. Pumphrey. He married Jackie Rebecca Black on November 5, 1994, in Ringling, Okla. This union would later end in divorce. Jerry and Kevin Buttry exchanged vows on December 25, 2012, in Ardmore, Okla.
Jerry worked as manager of Ryan's and later, Jimmy's Egg. He was proud to be ordained as a minister in The World Christianship Ministries on September 15, 2000. Jerry was a great man, a good father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and cousin who was called home by our Lord God. He touched so many hearts and helped so many people throughout his life. He would offer his love and advice to those who needed it and never had anything negative to say about anyone. We are not saying "Goodbye." We are saying "Happy trails until we meet again."
Jerry is survived by his mother, Teri Trovato; and his life partner, Kevin Buttry, both of Ardmore; his seven children, Nicole Pumphrey and spouse, Mitchell Moore, of Lone Grove, Sara Pumphrey and spouse, Jarred Ford, of Lone Grove, PFC Justin Pumphrey, Charles Pumphrey, Tyler Pumphrey, Elijah Pumphrey and Gabriell Pumphrey, all of Ardmore; two brothers, Chad Pumphrey and wife, Ashley Sandlin, and Scott Pumphrey, all of Ardmore; five grandchildren, Miranda and Miles Moore, Brayden Trimble, Phynix Ford and unborn grandchild, "Baby" Ford. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Jackie Rebecca Black-Pumphrey, of Ardmore; the Pumphrey family of Pekin, Illinois; and the Murphy family of East Peoria, Illinois.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Griffin~Hillcrest.
