Jean Ellen (Rudd) Parker, age 82, passed away on March 9, 2013, at her home in Ardmore, Okla. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2013, at McLish Avenue Church of Christ of Ardmore with Cody Westbrook officiating. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, Okla.
Jean was born to Fred A. Rudd and Stoney Martin (Buck) Rudd at Rocky, Okla., on August 21, 1930. She attended and graduated from Plainview High School. Jean married Kenneth Edward Parker on March 29, 1948, at Gainesville, Texas. She taught herself to sew and made her girl’s Easter, prom, and wedding dresses. Jean was an active member of the McLish Avenue Church of Christ. Although she was a homemaker for most of her life, she enjoyed working part-time at the Marietta Monitor. She enjoyed fishing when she could and in their retirement years, the couple enjoyed traveling. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 64 years, Kenneth; two sisters, Shirley Flowers and Barbara Hatley; two brothers, Wayne Rudd and Harold Rudd.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Betty Tipton and husband, Joseph, of Ardmore, Nancy Parker of Ardmore, and Sharon Morgan and husband, Finley, of Simon, Okla.; grandchildren, Brian Tipton of Palmdale, Calif., Michael Tipton of Ardmore, Kenna Lewis and Jimmy Morgan, both of Simon, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Anthony Tipton, Joshua and Zachary Tipton, Cooper Lewis, Koy and Kaylynn Morgan; sisters, Roxie Wilson of Tulsa, and Lou Thurman of Ardmore; brothers, Jim Rudd and Doug Rudd, both of Ardmore.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Morgan, J.R. Lewis, Mike Tipton, Darren Rudd, Blake Rudd, and Glenn Hatley. Honorary bearers will be Patrick Wilson, Anthony Tipton, Greg Thurman, Andy Rudd, Alan Rudd, Jim Coble, Don Coble, and David Bradley.
