Mary Lou Agan, age 65, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.
Mary Lou was born on May 6, 1947, to Frank Tipps and Mary Elizabeth (Saughter) Tipps at Dallas, Texas. Mary’s family moved to Ardmore when she was 12. While attending Ardmore High School, she married the love of her life, Waylon Agan, on February 29, 1963, at Waurika, Okla.
She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1965 and went to work for Tipps Furniture and was also a substitute teacher for Jefferson Elementary School in Ardmore. She loved to sell for companies like Tupperware and Avon. The family opened an A & W Drive-In. The family closed the drivein in 1976. As lovers of animals, Mary Lou and Waylon opened Maw & Paw’s Pets and Supplies in 1982. All of her grandchildren helped in the store and worked alongside of Mary Lou and Waylon.
They loved to travel and often vacationed in Tyler, Texas. It was there that she enjoyed rock collecting and fishing. After 30 years in business, the family closed Maw & Paw’s in 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and half brother, Harry Tipps.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 50 years, Waylon, of the home; two daughters, Cheryl Deisher and husband, Dan of Ardmore, and Melissa Faustner and husband, Tony of Lawton, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Sallena Deisher, Kayla Deisher, Ryan Deisher, Hailee Faustner, Noah Faustner, Meggan Faustner and Zackary Faustner; one great-grandchild, Drake Sprague; stepfather, Edwin J. Willingham of Ardmore; half sister, Frances Platt of Hayes, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Jayna Letkiewicz of Ardmore, and Becky Harris of Lewisville, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Van-Buskirk, Gene Cormier, Chris Agan, Blake Brown, Mike Agan and Brandon Brown. Honorary bearers will be Stacy Hunter, Ryan Smith and Tyler Smith.
The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 this evening at Griffin~Hillcrest.
