  • Graveside services for James K. Wade of Thackerville, Okla., are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Mt.

    Zion Cemetery, Thacker­ville, with the Rev. John Kinman and Bro. Mur­ray McMurray officiating.

    Services are under the di­rection of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Crema­tion Services, Marietta.

    Born August 2, 1932, at Simon, Okla., the son of Johnny B. and Nelly Mae Nipp Wade, he passed away Saturday, March 9, in the Denton Regional Hospital, Denton, Texas, at the age of 80.

    He had been a resident of the Thackerville com­munity most of his life and graduated from Thacker­ville High School. He and Betty J. Bond were mar­ried August 18, 1962, in Durant, Okla. He served with the U.S. Army, 1953-1955, during the Korean Conflict and was award­ed the National Defense Service Medal. He then was employed as a gas plant operator for Union Texas Petroleum for 25 years and for the past 15 years was Commissioner of Love County District 1. James enjoyed people and visiting; and was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and great-grand­pa. He was a member of the Thackerville Baptist Church.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, Johnny B. “Jiggs” Wade on April 10, 2003.

    Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Wade of the home; son and daughter­in- law, Dale and Hollie Monkres of Thackerville; daughter, Kathy Kyle, also of Thackerville; two sis­ters and brother-in-law, Addie Pryor of Arling­ton, Texas, and Betty and Charles Whittington of Thackerville; six grand­children, Clinton Kyle, Jo­sey Kyle, Bobby and Kelly Reeves, Steven and Josee Reeves, Phillip Monkres and Jaime Monkres; and a great-granddaughter, Bridget Reeves.

    Serving as bearers will be Clinton Kyle, Jo­sey Kyle, Steven Reeves, Bobby Reeves, Phillip Monkres and Delane Williams. Honorary bear­ers are Jaime Monkres, Cody Hess, Cody Anderle, Calvin Calhoun and Will Sowders.

    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

    Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
