Memorial services for Lawrence "Larry" Stanley Kopera, 71, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Thomas Dowdell officiating.

The son of Stanley Kopera and Stella Gorski Kopera, Larry was born on July 25, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, and passed away on March 10, 2013, at his Ardmore residence.

Larry grew up in Detroit, Michigan, where he attended school and later received his bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit. A longtime Ardmore resident, Larry moved to Ardmore 41 years ago from Detroit, Michigan. He began his work career that extended over a 30 year period with Uniroyal Goodrich retiring in 1993 as a Comptroller. Early in life, Larry enjoyed bowling but also enjoyed a good round of golf. Larry had served as President of the Sunshine Industry Board. He was a member of the Ardmore Rotary Club and St. Mary Catholic Church.

Larry is survived by his mother, Stella Kopera of Warren, Mich.; son, David Kopera and wife, Robyn of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughters, Debbie Travis and husband, J.D. of Coppell, Texas, and Laura Hunt of Ardmore, Okla.; sisters, Beverly Hoeksema and husband, Bob of Novi, Mich., and Marianne Sakowski and husband, David of Warner, Mich.; grandchildren, Carly Hunt, Brooke Hunt, Kampbell Kopera, Halle Hunt and Madison Travis; nieces, Kimberly Sakowski and Christine England and husband, David; and mother of his children, Denise Kopera.

He was preceded in death by his father; and aunt, Charlotte Paulis and her husband, Stanley.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 this evening at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. in the Harvey-Douglas Chapel.
