  • Celebrate spring at the Chickasaw Cultural Center during the month of March. A variety of fun, educational activities are planned throughout the month, from an egg hunt to a bevy of family movies, to commemorate springtime.

Three Sisters Spring Celebration, Movies Monday - Saturday

The Three Sisters Spring Festival will feature many fun outdoor activities, with an emphasis on the cultural connection to horticulture.

During this festival, homage is given to the “Three Sisters” (corn, beans, and squash), as well as the rebirth and rejuvenation of spring. An ancient method of gardening, “Three Sisters” uses an intercropping system to grow corn, beans, and squash simultaneously. It provides long-term soil fertility and healthy crops of food.

Horticulture-related activities including preparing a garden, planting tips, cultivating crops and preparing food will be offered. Cultural demonstrations and performances by the Living History players will take place under the arbors in the traditional village.

Other activities include language lessons, stomp dance, stick ball, traditional games, storytelling and an educational presentation of tribal clothing.

Family movies will be shown everyday at 3 p.m. during the week of March 18-23, including:

    Monday: “Here Comes the Boom”

    Tuesday: “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax”

    Wednesday: “Real Steel”

    Thursday: “Here Comes the Boom”

    Friday: “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax”

    Saturday: “Real Steel”
