Wayne Norval Burki, age 86, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his home in Lone Grove. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Morgan Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow in Newport Cemetery, Carter County, Oklahoma.

Wayne was born January 17, 1927, in Blunt, S.D., to Albert and Sarah Burki. He married Marjorie Heitland on September 24, 1950, in Wolsey, S.D.

Wayne attended school in Blunt, S.D, Harrold, S.D., and Highmore, S.D. He was a rancher until going into law enforcement working for the South Dakota Highway Patrol until retirement. He moved to Lone Grove, Okla., in 1980 where he worked for the Lone Grove Water Department until his second retirement. Wayne was an avid horseman, riding in the rodeos riding bulls, race horses and team roping. He was also a Boy Scout Leader and belonged to the NRA. Wayne loved to hunt, fish, carpentry and all kinds of woodworking. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Lone Grove.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; one granddaughter, Stacy; and sister, Elaine.

He is survived by his sons, David Burki and wife, Ardith of the home, Donald Burki, Tom Burki and wife, Sandy, all of Lone Grove; a daughter, Elaine Feltman of Hot Springs, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Hart of Harrold, S.D.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Case, Matt Sanders, Clint Feltman, Travis Burki, Jeff Feltman and Brock Feltman.

Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 this evening at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
