TISHOMINGO —Miranda Lambert has received numerous awards in country music. But Saturday night, she was able to add a new honor to her list of accomplishments.
Lambert, accompanied by fellow country music superstar Blake Shelton, was honored by the Johnston County Chamber of Commerce with "New Business of the Year" for The Pink Pistol, which opened in November 2012. The Grand Opening drew thousands of people to downtown Tishomingo on Pink Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
Lambert was presented with citations from the Oklahoma House and Senate signed by Gov. Mary Fallin. Seigel Paul Heffington, Executive Director, Chamber of Commerce, presided over the presentation. Kristi Cannon, Chamber President, presented the award. Presenting the citations on behalf the state was Rep. Charles McCall (R-Atoka) with Sen. Frank Simpson (R-Ardmore) and Sen. Josh Brecheen (R-Coalgate) assisting.
Speaker of the House T.W. Shannon served as the keynote speaker for the banquet, which was at Murray State College.
Since the Pink Pistol opened, shoppers from across the country have made their way to the Pink Pistol and the community of Tishomingo, which Lambert and Shelton call their adopted hometown.
