Darrell Lee Mays Sr., 67, of Dickson, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home in Dickson. He was born on July 10, 1945, in Courtney, Oklahoma, to the late Joseph Earnest Mays and Hattie Bell Arledge Mays.
Darrell was raised in Courtney and later moved to the Mannsville and Russett area. He graduated from the Mannsville High School in 1963. He married Reeta Kay Greeson on March 27, 1964, in Madill, Oklahoma. Darrell retired from Frito Lay in 2005 after 33 1/2 years. He attended the Mannsville Assembly of God Church and he enjoyed collecting coins, miniature horses, cows and chickens. Darrell liked watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks. His greatest joy was spending time with the grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Reeta Mays, Dickson, Oklahoma; children, Darrell Lee Mays Jr. and wife, Tina, Dickson, Oklahoma, and Jennifer Krimmer and husband, Matt, Dickson, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ally and Kylea Mays and Adelyn Krimmer; brothers, Dean Mays, Dickson, Oklahoma, Lonnie Mays, Ardmore, Oklahoma, Tommy Mays and wife, Melinda, Mannsville, Oklahoma, and Gary Mays and wife Rhonda, Dickson, Oklahoma; sister, Ann Rich and husband, Jack, Ringling, Oklahoma; sistersin-law, Bobbie Mays, Healdton, Oklahoma, Kathrene Mays, Madill, Oklahoma, Norma Mays, New Mexico, Edith Mays, Mannsville, Oklahoma, Katherine Mays, Dickson, Oklahoma, and Frieda Brock and husband, John Sr., Mannsville, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Odis, Arthur, Doug, Donnie and Roger Mays; sisters, Sue Barnes and Jean Mays; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Barnes and Bill Dorer; and sisters-in-law, Rachel Mays, Brenda Mays and Mary Lou Dorer.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a family hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Watts Funeral Home, Madill.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at the Mannsville Assembly of God Church, Mannsville, Oklahoma. Kevin Russell, Tom Estes and Amanda Phipps will officiate the ser vices. Music arranged by Jackie Peoples. Interment will be at the Mannsville Cemetery, Mannsville, Oklahoma.
Casket bearers: Ronnie Peoples, Mark Hughes, Carrol Preston, Dal Peoples, David Bynum, Phil Ross, Jack Thomason and Rick Peoples.
Honorary casket bearers: Richard Jagger, Johnny Burchett, Paul Martin, Jerry Holley, Thurman Rail, Jackie Pilgrim, Dusty Kidd and Lynn Jones.
Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
