Fit Communities (Johnston and Love County Consortium) is hosting the Second Annual Firefly Run. The run is slated at 8:30 p.m., May 3 at the Johnston County Fair Barn in Tishomingo. The run will consist of a one-mile fun run and a 5K. All proceeds from the event will go toward the fight against obesity and other health related factors. Johnston County ranks 72nd out of 77 counties for all health outcomes.
Participants are encouraged to be creative and glow with glow in the dark T-Shirts, bracelets, flashing light pins and other items that stand out.
Registration before Friday is $15 for the one-mile fun run and $25 for the 5K. The cost will go up $5 for each event after Friday.
Children 16 and under are free but are still required to register.
Registration can be done online at earlysignup.com/firefly or stop by the Johnston County Health Department. The registration table will be open at 7:30 p.m. on the day of the event. Don Garrett Racing System will be used for the 5K.
