Fit Communities (John­ston and Love County Con­sortium) is hosting the Sec­ond Annual Firefly Run. The run is slated at 8:30 p.m., May 3 at the Johnston County Fair Barn in Tisho­mingo. The run will consist of a one-mile fun run and a 5K. All proceeds from the event will go toward the fight against obesity and other health related fac­tors. Johnston County ranks 72nd out of 77 counties for all health outcomes.

Participants are encour­aged to be creative and glow with glow in the dark T-Shirts, bracelets, flashing light pins and other items that stand out.

Registration before Fri­day is $15 for the one-mile fun run and $25 for the 5K. The cost will go up $5 for each event after Friday.

Children 16 and under are free but are still required to register.

Registration can be done online at earlysignup.com/firefly or stop by the Johnston County Health Department. The registration table will be open at 7:30 p.m. on the day of the event. Don Garrett Racing System will be used for the 5K.
