Funeral services for Wanda Sue Newman are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ed Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
Sue was born March 1, 1937, in Ardmore, to Bert and Berna (Allen) Brown. She passed this life on April 8, 2013, at her residence in Ardmore.
She and Jack Newman were married September 2, 1953, in Gainesville, Texas. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She worked at the Daily Ardmoreite for many years as a member of the Newsroom Team. Sue had served as president of the Jaycee Jayne’s and Pageant Coordinator and Set Design. She enjoyed interior design and decorating, especially Oriental Themes and Art Deco. She loved landscaping and was an excellent artist. She also enjoyed traveling abroad and shopping for fabulous shoes.
She is survived by her daughter, René Davis of Ardmore; her sister, Dorothy Maddox of Ardmore; three brothers, Jack Brown of Midland, Texas, Jim Brown also of Midland, Texas, and William Brown of Commerce, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Newman; her parents; and a brother, Joe Brown.
Pallbeaers will be Jim Brown, Jack Brown, Craig Maddox, Nancy Housinger, Jack Drennan, Don Essenpreis and Randal Davis.
Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice at 207 C Street NW, Ardmore.
