Heritage Hall will be rocking for a good cause May 9 as country artists Chris Cagle and Bri Bagwell perform a benefit concert for the Family Shelter of Southern Oklahoma.

"The Family Shelter serves more than 350 victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking each year by providing safe shelter, legal advocacy, safety planning, community education, support group, and specialized children's trauma counseling to the families of this area," said shelter executive director Stacey Mason.

The idea of a benefit concert started when Kay Cagle, wife of Chris Cagle, began an internship at the Family Shelter in August. After learning what the shelter does and the victims that are served, she began talking to staff about having a benefit concert as a fundraising opportunity to allow the Family Shelter to continue to reach more victims.

"When I decided to go into counseling it was driven by a motive of simply wanting to help people," Kay said. "When it came time to choose a place to do my internship The Family Shelter of Southern Oklahoma exemplified just that.

"During my time with the shelter, I was able to witness the hard work these folks do to ensure the victims that come to the shelter are given every opportunity to make a life for themselves and their children. To say the experience with the shelter was humbling would be a major understatement. Realizing how blessed Chris and I are as a family made the two of us want to give something back, we felt that helping the Family Shelter of Southern Okla. would be a great place to start."

Tickets are available at Two Frogs Grill, Goin Postal and on StubWire.com. Prices are $20 for general admission, $30 for priority/gold seating, and $40 for the VIP section.

"Having this benefit concert is so exciting for us at the family shelter. We are so thankful to Chris Cagle for donating his time and talent to put on a show for us," Mason said. "With each dollar earned, we are able to continue to do more to eliminate violence in our community."
