OKLAHOMA CITY — The Ardmore girls tennis team had two first-place finishes and a runner-up at the Bridgebuilders Tournament at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.
Alex Morales rolled through No. 1 doubles with a first-round bye and two straight-set victories over Oklahoma Christian School (6-2, 6-0) and Western Heights (6-0, 6-2). Sadie and Savannah Pfau were just as dominant at No. 1 doubles. The sisters had a first-round bye, then defeated Altus 6-0, 6-0 and Tahlequah 6-0, 6-1 in the championship.
"Alex played flawless. She was consistent and in control all day," Ardmore coach Becky Dickinson said. "Sadie and Savannah controlled their opponents today."
Katie Pinson, who typically plays No. 2 doubles, was moved to No. 2 singles because of Ardmore injuries and players taking the ACT. Pinson went on to win her first two matches against Western Heights and Tahlequah before losing in three sets to Oklahoma Christian School 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
"Katie Pinson is a versatile player," Dickinson said. "We put her in singles, she gets to the finals."
In boys competition, Ardmore had place finishers in each division. Jamal Mosley was fourth at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 doubles team of Christian Allen and Ben Gonzalez were also fourth.
Mitchell McCormick was fifth at No. 2 doubles and Jordan Hunter and Ramen Saha were fifth at No. 1 doubles.
Ardmore's girls did not play a No. 2 doubles team.
