Attorney General Scott Pruitt Tuesday announced the dates for the fourth Oklahoma Victim Assistance Academy (OVAA). The academy will be held June 2-7 on the campus of East Central University in Ada.
The Attorney General’s Office, in partnership with the Oklahoma District Attorney’s Council, East Central University and victim service representatives from across the state, will present a week-long study series for victim advocates, victim service providers, law enforcement and social service providers. The academy provides participants with tools to serve those victimized by crime, and enhances multi-disciplinary training.
Thirty candidates from across the state will be selected to attend the academy. Some scholarships may be available for those who are chosen to attend the 40 hours of training.
Continuing education units will be available for victim advocates and allied professions, and academic credit will be offered from East Central University and OSU-OKC.
Applications are due April 25.
