MARIETTA — Memorial services for Darrell Lee Cox, 67, of Ardmore, Okla., are set for 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, Okla., with Bro. Jimmy May officiating, assisted by Johnny Ray Tynes. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Mr. Cox was born October 21, 1945, at Leon, Okla., the son of Delbert Lee Cox and Clara Ruth Hockersmith Cox. He passed away Monday, April 15, at Springer, Okla.
A 1963 graduate of Leon High School, Darrell was a great basketball player. He had been employed as a lead man in the shipping department at Michelin, retiring after 28 years. Mr. Cox loved hunting, fishing, playing golf and karaoke. He will be remembered as a very easygoing, gentle man. He and Hazel "Bonnie" Duncan were married at Lake Murray Chapel on September 14, 1996.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three grandchildren, McLain Caldwell Cox, Jansen Blair Cox and Jory Griffin; and brother-in-law, Roland Butler.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Duane Sanders of Elk Grove, Calif.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marcy Cox, Kim and James Casey and Candice and James Minyard, all of Marietta; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Pam Cox of Ardmore; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jean and David Hatley of Lone Grove, Okla., and Jeannine Butler of Ringling, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Jacey Freer, Hailey Sprouse, Braeden Griffin, Sydney Griffin, Carslee Minyard, Race Cox, Harlie Johnson, Caleigh Sanders and Brooklyn Casey; and three great-grandchildren, Landon Eubank, Rylan Stuckey and Brooke Freer.
Serving as honorary bearers will be his grandchildren; and also Paul Riley and Bill George.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
