Following a dramatic run to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 in Oklahoma City, the University of Oklahoma women's basketball team boosted its incoming class with the addition of a local high school senior Thursday.
T'ona Edwards, a 5-foot-5 guard from Northeast Academy in Oklahoma City, filed a National Letter of Intent with the Sooners, OU head women's basketball coach Sherri Coale announced.
Edwards averaged 16.7 points seven rebounds, six assists and nearly four steals per game to lead the Vikings to a 30-0 record and state championship in 2013.
"T'ona is a terrific athlete who gives us immediate depth at the point guard position," Coale said. "She is a proven winner, as she led her team to a state championship this year, and she is a competitor."
