Funeral services for Mildred Melvina Morris are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday morning in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Brother Rusty Canoy officiating. Interment will follow in the Ringling Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Craddock Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 4 1925 in Nacona, Texas to Mr. Noah Edwin Cantwell and Mrs. Gertrude Virginia (Cox) Cantwell. She departed this life on April 20, 2013 in Purcell, Okla.
Mildred was raised at Zaneis where she attended school. She married Elijah Lewis Morris on Jan. 1, 1942. They had been married for 57 years when Lewis passed away in March of 1999. During those years Mildred and Lewis raised two children, Mavis Morris Reynolds and Donald Lewis Morris. Mildred was a homemaker and worked in retail sales. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ringling and the First Baptist Church of Ardmore where she spent countless hours volunteering as well as volunteering in the community. At the time of her death she was residing in Purcell, Okla. and was a member of the Lexington First Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband Lewis, she is also preceded in death are her daughter, Mavis Reynolds, her parents, four infant siblings and other siblings; Buck Cantwell, Eugene Cantwell, Elmer Cantwell, Edward Cantwell, Lavinia Albin, Virginia Mallory and Belvia Stiles.
Survivors include her son Don Morris and wife Sue of Purcell, son-in-law Arnold Reynolds of Rubottom, grandchildren; Brian Reynolds, Michelle Brown, Jennifer Claunch and Marci Bean, great grandchildren; Dylan Pickelsimer, Dakota Pickelsimer, Kaden Claunch, Cooper Bean, Carson Claunch, Austin Brown and Landry Bean and numerous other family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Dylan Pickelsimer, Dakota Pickelsimer, Brian Reynolds, Arnold Reynolds, Rocky Claunch, and Lance Brown.
Memorials may be left to the First Baptist Church of Lexington, 900 East Broadway, Lexington, OK. 73051.
