  • National Park Service researchers will be at the Travertine Nature Center at 3 p.m. Friday to talk about the results of the June 2012 Visitor Services Project at Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

The goal of the visitor study was to learn about the expectations, opinions, and interests of CNRA visitors and the impacts of visitor spending on the local economy. The study was conducted by the NPS as part of the Park Studies Unit at the University of Idaho. T his study profiled a systematic random sample of CNRA visitors. A total of 687 questionnaires were distributed to visitor groups resulting in a 40.6 percent response rate.

The 2012 visitor study utilizes a "Money-Generation Model" to provide information about the impact of visitor spending on the local economy surrounding the park. This model divides visitors into segments to help explain differences in spending across distinct user groups.

The public is invited to attend the presentation.
