Services for T.J. Welch of Mari­etta, Okla., are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta, with the Rev. Lawrence Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.

Mr. Welch was born December 11, 1929, in Marysville, Texas, the son of Herman Robert Welch and Octavia Elizabeth Carter Welch. He passed away Monday, April 22, in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta, at the age of 83.

A resident of Love County most of his life, Mr. Welch was a retired welder and farmer. He and the former Hattie Mae Ivins were married in Gainesville, Texas, on September 22, 1951.

A veteran of the Ko­rean Conflic t, Mr. Welch served with the U.S. Army from May 1952 to April 1954 and was awarded the National Defense Ser­vice Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. While his children were in school, he was very active in the FFA and was recognized as a Honorary Chapter Member in 1991. In addi­tion, he had been a very dedicated member of the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department since 1955. Mr. Welch was of the Bap­tist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; broth­er, Virgil Welch; five sis­ters, Oneta Rennels, Lola Branch, Clara Conley, Ma­rie Gibbs and Lois Porter; and daughter-in-law, An­gela Welch.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hattie Mae Welch of the home; three sons and daughters­in-law, Dennis Welch of Marietta, Jerry and Lynn Welch of Howe, Texas, and Kenneth and Re­becca Welch of Dickson, Okla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Da­vid Blackburn of Wilson, Okla., and Evelyn and Mike Cohoon of Marietta; sister-in-law, Edith Welch of Myra, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Serving as casket bear­ers will be members of the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department, Dusty Mi­chael, Bobby Sharp, Terry Vernon, Bo Clough, Josh Bazor and Todd Wick­ware. Honorary bearers are members of all of the Love County Volunteer Fire Departments, Da­vid and Marilyn Nichols, Frank McKay and Rick Brannan.

Viewing will be from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a family hour from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
