  • Following an extended illness, Linda Browne, 66, passed from this world Friday, April 19, 2013, in an Oklahoma City hospi­tal. She lived most of her life in the Dickson com­munity and only recently moved to the Oklahoma City area to be near to her daughter and grandchil­dren.

    Linda graduated from Dickson High School, the class of 1965 and had worked as a librarian. She and Raymond James (Jimmy) Welch Jr. were married in November 2, 1967, at Ardmore. Jimmy passed away September 10, 1983. She later married Christopher Allan Browne in 1986; he passed away May 29, 2004.

    Linda was fiercely de­voted to her family; she enjoyed Internet shop­ping, genealog y, fishing and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.

    Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Karla Jean and Troy Petty of Yukon, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Lauryn Petty of Oklahoma City and Marshall Petty of Yu­kon; also a great-grand­son, Cameron Casebolt, who is on the way. Also sur viving are five broth­ers and sisters, Eugenia Willingham, Betty Ma­son-Holley and her hus­band, Tommy, Imogene Shrum and her husband, Kevin, Ronnie Preston, Gerald Preston and his wife, Cynde, all from Ar­dmore; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews that she loved dearly.

    In addition to her two husbands, Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Velma Baugh Preston; father and mother-in-law, Ray and Jean Welch, brother-in­law, Donnie Welch and brother-in-law, Gene Willingham; sister-in-law, Nancy Preston; a nephew, Todd Willingham; and three great-nieces.

    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in the Cen­tennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory conducted by the Rev. Leroy Hol­man, pastor of Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

    Serving as bearers will be Victor Copeland, Devin Shrum, Doug and Dale Mason, and Jeremiah and Wesley Preston. Honor­ary bearers include Chris Hunter, Wesley Patton, Jerry Cook and Joey Shorter.
