  • Oklahoma artist Carol Beesley will help participants to think "Outside the Box" at the Goddard Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 3.
Beesley will give a 2-hour painting demonstration followed by a 1-hour lunch and gallery tour in the Goddard Art Galleries. The cost of the workshop is $50 and includes the lunch. This also serves as a fundraiser for Art Outreach programs.
Beesley is a professor emeritus at the University of Oklahoma, has an MFA from UCLA and has been the recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship to study art history at Columbia University. Her paintings, which will be on display at the Goddard Center May 2 through June 28, are said to capture the changing moments of light on land, water and sky by her manipulation of color and form.
During the two hour demonstration Beesley will work through a painting utilizing oil bars.
Participants do not need to be artists to attend, although artists may bring supplies and work through a piece with Beesley. Those planning to work with Beesley should bring an image of a landscape they would like to paint, a 12x12-inch canvas and their regular medium.
Space is limited, so interested participants should call (580) 226-0909 to make reservations. The deadline for registration is today.
The Goddard Center Art Studios are located at 425 1st Ave. SW.
