Lenora (Burns) Butler, age 81, of Ardmore, Okla., passed away on April 26, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on April 29, 2013, in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest with Pastor Wayne Howard officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.

Lenora was born to Homer A. Burns and Plassee (Parker) Burns on January 7, 1932, at Springer, Okla. She graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1950 from Springer High School. She married J.D. Butler on Sept. 15, 1951, at Waurika, Okla.

Lenora began working as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and, after 32 1/2 years of service, retired as a network supervisor for Outside Plant Assignment. She was a member of the Country Tabernacle and taught beginners and adult Sunday school classes for several years. Lenora was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed studying the Bible, reading, and oil painting. She loved to cook for her family and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.D. Butler; and son, Michael Jay Butler.

She is survived by her son, Mark Dixon Butler and wife, Cheryl of Ardmore, Okla.; six grandchildren, Bambi Dawn Phillips and husband, John, Michelle Hills and husband, Trent, Amanda Vaughan and husband, James, Julie Walker and husband, Ricky, and Rachell Butler, all of Ardmore, and Tyler Halter of Sherman, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Butler of Ardmore; two brothers, Harlis Burns of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Truman Burns and wife, Sharon of Edmond, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Walker, James Vaughan, Tyler Halter, Kaleb Hurley, Warren Hurley, and Michael Caldwell.

Visitation will be held on this evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 28, 2013, at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
