  • Arvel ‘Lee Roy’ Minnick

  • Graveside services for Arvel “Lee Roy” Minnick will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013, 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Jessica Seay officiating. Family visitation will be this evening from 7-8 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.
    Lee Roy was born Feb. 12, 1920 at Okemah, Okla. to Walter Scott Minnick and Ida Paralee Harper Minnick. He passed from this life on April 27, 2013 with his family by his side at the age of 93.
    He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1937. Lee Roy married Pauline (Rubison) Minnick at Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1940. She has preceded him in death. Later he married Evelyn (Sanders) Minnick in 1973. Lee Roy was a Navy veteran and was also in WWII. He retired in 1982 as Operations Superintendent with Oklahoma Natural Gas. He was in many organizations including past president of Dornick Hills Country Club, lifetime member of the Elks Club, a member of the American Legion, and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee, Okla., where he was a member of the Beacon Sunday School Class.
    Lee Roy had a passion for golf. He traveled with the Mississippi Seniors Association for many years. He also enjoyed playing cards, traveling in his RV to various places and attending the horse races. Up till 2011, he played International Computer Bridge. Lee Roy was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ida Minnick; wife Pauline Minnick; brother Luther Minnick, and sister Ruby Powell.
    He is survived by his wife Evelyn Sanders Minnick of Norman, Oklahoma and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; daughter Carolyn Yeager and her husband Don of Ardmore; two grandchildren Lisa Riggle and husband Randle, Todd Yeager and wife Susan, all of Dickson, Okla.; and two great grandchildren Reece and Landon Riggle.
