The first Moneka Trail Run 5K race will be May 11 at 9 a.m. at Waurika Lake, with net proceeds going to the national Wounded Warrior Program.
Although the pre-registration period in which participants were guaranteed an event T-shirt has ended, early registration is still possible. Participants can also register on race day.
Sponsored by the Waurika Chamber of Commerce, the Moneka Trail Run features a 5 kilometer competitive race and a 1-mile walk on a course at Waurika Lake. Age groups for males and females in the 5K race are 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50 and older. Winners in the age groups will be able to choose prizes following the race.
Registration fee for the 5K race is $30, while fee for the 1-mile walk is $20. Anyone wishing to purchase an event T-shirt may do so for $15 during the pre-race period or on race day. Race day registration and check in begins at 8 a.m., with the race beginning at 9 a.m.
Entry forms are available at the Waurika Public Library, Eck Drug & Gifts, First Bank & Trust, First Farmers National Bank and Beaver Lumber. Registration is also possible by visiting the Web sitemonekatrailrun.com.
