Murray State women's basketball coach Crystal Robinson has accepted a job as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

She will be the first assistant coach underneath Jerry Finkbeiner, who coached collegiate ball in Oklahoma at Southern Nazarene and Oral Roberts University for a total of 22 years. Robinson says it was the opportunity to work with Finkbeiner was too good to pass up.

“I’ve known Jerry a long time. He won two national NAIA titles against me when he was with Southern Nazarene. He beat me twice in the finals,” says Robinson. “The opportunity to work with someone who has been very successful and to learn underneath him is just a great opportunity for me.”

Robinson will be one of three assistants for Coach Finkbeiner. She expects to be in charge of teaching and recruiting post players for Utah State.

MSC assistant coach Phil Daniel has been named interim coach of the Aggies. Daniel graduated from MSC and played basketball for the Aggies. He has over 30 years of experience in public education, coaching for 28 seasons, including high school stints at Caney, Coleman, and Atoka.

With 10 state tournament appearances, 565 wins and one state title, he was recently inducted into the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. That one state title came when he was at Atoka ... coaching Crystal Robinson.
