  • Estanislado Y 'Esty Sr.' Castillo

  • Funeral services for Estanislado Castillo, 67, will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with the Reverend Jody Ham officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
    The son of Estanislado Y. Castillo and Manuela "Ybarra" Castillo, Esty was born on July 23, 1945, in Sinton, Texas and passed away on May 2, 2013, at his Ardmore residence.
    He and the former Lillian Alice Nunez were married in 1968 in Sinton, Texas. She preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his father, Estanislado; and a son, Jacob.
    Mr. Castillo had been an Ardmore resident since moving here in 1988 from Cuero, Texas. Esty received his Bachelors of Education degree from Texas A & I of Kingsville, Texas, and his Masters in Education from Corpus Christie State University. A retired educator, Esty taught Spanish at the Ardmore Higher Ed Center through Murray State College, Oak Hall and Lone Grove Schools. He also was a welding instructor at the Gainesville State School. He enjoyed fishing; working on old cars, baseball but his real passion was spending time with his family. Esty was a member of the Calvary Christian Fellowship and of the Lulac Club in Texas.
    Survivors include his sons, Joey Castanon and wife, Sheli, Esty Castillo, Jr. and wife, Shanon, Dr. Eric Castillo and wife, Benita; daughters, Cindy Priddy and Ginny Garza and husband, Roy Jr.; mother, Manuela Ybarra Castillo; brothers, Gilberto Castillo II and wife, Mary Lou and Alonzo Castillo and wife, Olga; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Pallbearers will be: Jason Castanon, Jeremy Castanon, Matt Bullens Jr., Eriq Bullens, Geno Bullens and Greg Castillo. Honorary bearers will be: Aaron Acosta, Doston Whitfield and Randy Morales.
    The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home this evening from 6-8 p.m.
    The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Irma Morales and to Cross Timbers Hospice for being with Esty throughout his final journey home.
