MARIETTA — Services for Dorothy G. Fletcher, 87, of Knoxville, Tenn. will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, Okla. Officiating will be her son, Ted Fletcher, with interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Mrs. Fletcher was born October 25, 1925, in Marietta, the daughter of R.E. "Chick" Alexander and Anna Bell VanSant Alexander. She passed away Saturday, April 27, in Knoxville.
Dorothy grew up in Marietta, graduated from Marietta High School and attended Oklahoma State University for two years. She later completed a two-year program in medical transcribing and for 23 years was a transcriber in the x-ray department of the Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Lafayette, La.
Dorothy married David A. Fletcher on April 17, 1955, in the VanSant Hotel in Marietta. She enjoyed art, music and dance. Dorothy counted the Love County Frontier Days Celebration and the Festival International De Louisiane among her favorite events. She was passionate about supporting and enjoying friends and family. Dorothy put effort into developing and maintaining meaningful friendships and family relationships. Her warmth, her smile and her ready laugh will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Ted Fletcher of Knoxville; aunt, Virginia Lee Smith of Quapaw, Okla.; as well as by her cousins and many friends.
Bearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
