MIDWEST CITY — Senior Cierra Lofton placed second in the 100-meter dash and Fox's girls track and field team scored in three relays at the Class 2A state meet Saturday at Carl Albert High School.

Lofton finished the 100 in 12.83 seconds, second only to Marian Muegge of Deer Creek-Lamont (12.76).

The Foxes also had success in the relays, placing sixth in the 4x100 (53.57), fourth in the 4x200 (1:55.20) and sixth in the 4x400 (4:35.37).

Fox finished in a three-way tie for ninth as a team in Class A, scoring 22 points.

Healdton's Morgan Fletcher placed second in the girls 400 dash (1:02.86) and the Bulldogs' 4x800 team of Abbie Etter, Britney Green, Nancy Needham and Fletcher placed fifth (10:53.03).

All four legs of the 4x800 team return next season.

"Morgan's one of those that she runs hard but she strategizes," Healdton coach Mark Barrett said. "She knows how to pour it on at the end. She's got a really good chance to compete for a state title her senior year.

"With those three freshman and a junior coming back next year, I feel like next year we can go out and really compete for state title in the 2-mile relay also."

Healdton junior Colton Dunn placed third in the boys long jump with a jump of 21 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

"I think the two above him were seniors," Barrett said. "That's three of them (events) that we have a chance to win next season."

Healdton scored 12 points to place 17th out of 39 teams. Crossings Christian won the Class A girls title 76-64.3 over Deer Creek-Lamont.

Velma-Alma won the boys title in Class A, 112-178 over Texhoma.

In 2A, Hennessey swept the boys and girls titles, with the boys beating Colcord 89-66 and the girls topping Tonkawa 119-72.
