SULPHUR — Ginger Hewett, a photographer from Pauls Valley, has been invited by the Artists of The Arbuckles Art Gallery to have an exclusive art show through May 31.
Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The exhibit will have more than 100 pieces of Hewett's art on display and available for purchase. Photography blanks note cards and her book "Basic DSLR Photography" will also be available.
Hewett shares her years of experience with her students at Mid-America Technology Center and at the Pauls Valley Alternative School. She teaches Basic DSLR Photography, Basic Photoshop, and Advanced Photoshop.
In addition to teaching she does custom framing, portrait and artistic photography. She is the Garvin County Fair Photography Superintendent and is a member of the "Artists of the Arbuckles" and judges for different entities.
Hewett has received numerous awards for her artistic photography and credits her dad, Preston Booth, for her love of photography. As a teenager they would spend hours developing and printing black and white prints in his homemade darkroom. She and her dad never agreed on composition, but respected each other's opinion, she said. "I think my dad would be proud of my accomplishments."
She lives with her husband, Gary, a retired Oklahoma Highway Patrol Officer. They have two sons: Justin and Kyle. Both married and have given the Hewetts four grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Kadence and Gunner.
Hewett will also offer a two-part class in photography for anyone who is interested. The class will consist of a classroom session from 1-3 p.m. Saturday and an outside photo session June 1. Contact Hewett by calling (405) 251-0055 to ask questions or to register for the class.
