SULPHUR — The Parker Memorial Library will have OU professor M. Charles Gilbert Tuesday lecturing on "The Earth Beneath Your Feet" at 6:30 p.m.

Gilbert received his bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Oklahoma and his Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles. His area of interest includes the stability relations of the rock-forming minerals and the development of rifts like those in Southern Oklahoma.

Much of Gilbert's work has centered on attempts to understand the emplacement of the Cambrian igneous floor of the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen through the study of the outcrops in the Wichita Mountains.

Refreshments will be provided by the library.
