  • Several places still taking donations for Moore aid effort

  • The area effort to provide relief to the victims of this week's tornados continues to grow.
    The following is a list of area businesses and organizations who have notified The Ardmoreite they are accepting a variety of items and/or cash donations which will be used to provide aid to the victims:
    n Ardmore City Schools — there will be a truck at the high school Fine Arts Building through this evening. Students, parents and the general public are welcome to donate relief supplies at the site. Call Sabra at (580) 220-8131.
    n Homeland — is currently accepting donations for the American Red Cross Tornado Relief Fund. Financial contributions can be made at the register in increments of $1, $5 or $10. Customers purchasing items to donate can place them in the in-store collection bins located at the front of the store. The items will be distributed to rescue workers, volunteers and victims and 100 percent of all financial contributions will go directly to the tornado relief efforts.
    n Candlewood Suites — accepting disaster relief donations of a variety of items. As of Wednesday morning, Candlewood Suites in Moore remained without electricity and water, but is allowing displaced victims of the tornado to stay in rooms. Donated items will be taken to the Moore hotel.
    n American National Bank — will match funds donated to the ANB Oklahoma Tornado Relief Fund account through May 31. Checks should be made out to American Red Cross and indicate tornado relief on the memo line. Donations can be made at any bank location or mailed to ANB, P.O. Box 5009, Ardmore, OK 73403.
    n Landmark Bank — accepting donations of bottled water, Gatorade, pet food, first aid supplies, diapers, formula and nonperishable food at all area locations. To ask questions call (580) 369-2331.
    n Bluebonnet Feeds ­— accepting monetary donations to provide animal feed. All donations will go toward the manufacture and shipment of feed. Donations can be made online at www.stridesupplement.com/donate or by mail to Bluebonnet Feeds, 100 Mill St. SE, Ardmore, OK 73402
    n Chickasaw Regional (Pubic) Library System — accepting bottled water, toiletries, over-the-counter medications, blankets, towels, work gloves, garbage bags, new or barely used clothing and baby items for both Shawnee and Moore tornado victims. Items can be dropped off at any branch library or call (580) 223-3164 or (888) 520-8103.
    n Verizon — accepting donations at the Ardmore location. Call (580) 226-4141.
    n Southern Oklahoma Tea Party — will have an item donation drop off site from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Central Park. n Lone Grove Police Department — collecting donated items from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at department headquarters.
    n Designing Women — in Marietta is accepting donations of water, Gatorade, wet wipes, diapers and money. Call (580) 276-2445
