  • Cause of Lone Grove blackout remains a mystery

    • email print
  • A power outage blacked out more than 2,760 OG&E customers in Lone Grove Wednesday afternoon.

Power was restored, but the question of what caused the blackout remains unanswered.

Lone Grove City Manager Ian O’Neal said power was off for about two hours. Late Wednesday afternoon, O’Neal said he still had not received any information from OG&E about what caused the outage or whether the city should expect another blackout.

"I haven't heard a word," the city manager said. "The guys in the water department were starting to get nervous, because our city wells are operated by electricity. But (the electricity) came back on before it became a real problem." No other serious issues resulting from the outage were immediately known.

According to OG&E's website, a total of 2,764 residential and business customers in the city of 5,054 were affected. The Ardmoreite's calls to OG&E concerning the outage were not returned.
