Services for Michael Lee Briscoe, 63, will be held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with the Reverend David Gardner officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Cheek Cemetery. A time of visitation and support for the family will be held Monday evening from 7 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The son of the late Jesse Ernest and Edna Pearl Halstead Briscoe, Mike was born July 31, 1949, in Oklahoma City and passed away at his residence in Greenville, June 6, 2013.
A graduate of Lone Grove High School, Mike joined the Navy in November 1967. He served almost six years, during which he saw overseas time in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in December 1971. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
After returning home, Mike began his oilfield career, which spanned 42 years. At the time of his death, Mike was working with Nomac Drilling as a tool pusher. He and the former Jonell Davis were married in 1993 in Gainesville, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, of nearly 20 years, Jonell, of the home; son, Michael Briscoe; daughters, Krissy Briscoe and Tammy Griffin; stepchildren, David and JoAnn Potter; brother, Larry Briscoe; 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A sister, Cathy Potts preceded him in death.
Serving as bearers will be Charles Chastain, David Potter, Jesse Reeves, Keith Wright, David Potter, Jr., and Johnny Butler.
