  • David Crockett Ward, 92 of Ma­dill, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, at his home in Ma­dill. He was born on De­cember 14, 1920, in Ma­dill, Oklahoma, to the late Jesse Ward and Savannah Carroll Ward. David was raised in Madill and grad­uated from Madill High School in 1939 and later joined the United States Army Air Corp serving during WW II from 1943 to 1946 as a staff sergeant radio repairman on a B-29. He married Bess Louise Glenn on April 18, 1942, in Muskogee, Okla­homa, and has been mar­ried for 71 years. David was co-owner of Ward’s Hardware for 48 years. He was active in the Ma­dill Alumni Association, past Madill City Council member and a member of the Lake Texoma As­sociation. David was a member of the Madill First United Methodist Church where he served as board member and trustee, past president of the Methodist Men and 14 year associate Sunday School Superintendent. He is survived by his wife, Bess Ward, Madill, Okla.; children, Jennifer Norton and husband, Joe, Dun­can, Okla., Elaine Ware­hime, Springdale, Ark.; grandchildren, Mikel and Renae Norton, Richard Warehime; great-grand­children, Aidan, Andrew Chayton; several nieces and nephews.
     
    David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Otis Ward; sister, Charlotta Self.
     
    Visitation will be today at Watts Funeral Home, Madill from 1-9 p.m. Graveside services will be Monday, June 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Woodber­ry-Forest Cemetery, Ma­dill, Oklahoma. Herschel Beard, Brett Thomasson and Greg Jones will of­ficiate the services. Music arranged by Sue Beard. Military honors will be conducted by the Chicka­saw Honor Guard. Ser­vices will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklaho­ma.
     
    Honorary casket bear­ers are Keith Clark, Ed Benton, Fred Stanley, Joe Bob Norton, Capt. Rich­ard Warehime, SFC Mikel Norton.
