The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is asking for the public’s help in locating a gauge containing radioactive material that was stolen from the back of a pick-up in Ponca City. The Troxler Model 3430 gauge is used to measure the density and moisture content of soil. The gauge represents a low threat of exposure as long as the gauge is not unlocked. If unlocked, the source can pose a risk to human health.
DEQ urges anyone with information about the gauge to contact the agency’s Radiation Management section at 1-800-522-0206 or 1-405-702-5100.
