Edmond Wayne “Ed” Marris, 70, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home with the Reverend Scott Battice officiating. Interment will follow in Provence Cemetery.
Mr. Marris was born on May 24, 1943, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Dolph Marris and May (Johnson) Marris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a half-sister, Leola Powell.
Edmond attended Mt. Washington Elementary School and the Carter Seminary. He worked as a welder at WW Trailer in Madill, then for the Chickasaw Housing as a maintenance man for 11 years until his retirement in 2011 due to health reasons. Edmond and Virginia Alford were married on August 21, 1981, in Gainesville, Texas. He enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, playing golf and making model airplanes.
Edmond is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; stepdaughters, Angela Vinson and Rhonda Vaughan, both of Ardmore; stepsons, Randall Kyle Sr. of Ardmore and Michael Yowell of Lone Grove; 12 step-grandchildren and 18 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Day of Ardmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Caples, Danny Caples, Michael Yowell, John Tunnel, Johnny Vinson and Lee Gibson.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Griffin-Hill -crest Funeral Home.
