  • Edmond Wayne “Ed” Marris, 70, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home with the Reverend Scott Battice officiating. Interment will follow in Provence Cemetery.
     
    Mr. Marris was born on May 24, 1943, in Law­ton, Oklahoma, to Dolph Marris and May (John­son) Marris.
     
    He was preceded in death by his parents; and a half-sister, Leola Powell.
     
    Edmond attended Mt. Washington Elementary School and the Carter Seminary. He worked as a welder at WW Trailer in Madill, then for the Chickasaw Housing as a maintenance man for 11 years until his retirement in 2011 due to health rea­sons. Edmond and Vir­ginia Alford were mar­ried on August 21, 1981, in Gainesville, Texas. He enjoyed playing his gui­tar, fishing, playing golf and making model air­planes.
     
    Edmond is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; stepdaughters, An­gela Vinson and Rhonda Vaughan, both of Ardmore; stepsons, Randall Kyle Sr. of Ardmore and Michael Yowell of Lone Grove; 12 step-grandchil­dren and 18 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Day of Ardmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     
    Serving as pallbear­ers will be Chris Caples, Danny Caples, Michael Yowell, John Tunnel, Johnny Vinson and Lee Gibson.
     
    Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Griffin-Hill -crest Funeral Home.
