Gwen Rollins-Dean, 76, went to God's arms on Saturday, March 23, 2013. She was born on December 26, 1936, in Ardmore, Okla., to William and Alva (Lloyd) Wiggins.
Gwen made a home in Oklahoma and raised two children as a single mother while caring for her mother. She was a very strong willed and independent woman supporting herself, her children and six grandchildren. Later in life, Gwen married Chester Rollins. He passed away after just four years of marriage. Twenty-four years later in 1999, Gwen married George L. Dean. They lived in Elephant Butte, N.M., and then later settled down in Bosquecito, N.M., with their precious doggies, Susie and PJ.
Gwen was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester; her grandson, Frank Williams; and her sisters, Chiquita Mahler and Jacque Foret.
She is survived by her loving husband, George Dean of Bosquecito, N.M.; her daughter, Glenna Sue Williams of Yuma, Ariz.; her son, Thomas Garcia of Ardmore, Okla.; her step children, Melanie Hill of Searcy, Ark., Cynthia Pearse and husband, Spencer of Bosquecito, and Mike Dean and wife, Tressa of Port Orchard, Wash.; her sisters, Toni Castaneda and Louanna Frank, both of Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Connie Lindsay and husband, Preston of Nogal, N.M., and Sally Ann Zimmerman of Lemitar, N.M. Gwen also enjoyed three granddaughters, Karena, Andrea and Angela; two grandsons, Thomas and Billy; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
