Gov. Mary Fallin has proclaimed June 23-29 as Deaf-Blind Awareness Week in Oklahoma in recognition of the achievements of Oklahomans who have vision and hearing loss.
Oklahomans who are deaf-blind may receive career counseling, comprehensive rehabilitation, personal adjustment training, job preparation and placement and independent living services through the state Department of Rehabilitation Services.
DRS employs two deaf-blind specialists to serve citizens statewide, Jeri Cooper based in Tulsa and Joan Blake from Oklahoma City. Both work for DRS’ Visual Services division. Those served by Cooper and Blake have varying degrees of vision and hearing loss.
For more information about services for Oklahomans who are deaf-blind, contact Jeri Cooper at 918-551-4900 or firstname.lastname@example.org or Joan Blake at 405-522-1475 or email@example.com.
